What Parents Are Saying

"Our son Christopher (age 6) really gained confidence, focus and listening skills as well as respect for his other classmates and Instructors. Attending the TRP Academy has also helped him be more attentive at school. Our daughter Sarah (age 12) has found that the skills learned at TRP have not only benefited her other sports activities but she too has gained a stronger sense of self-confidence and poise amongst her peer group. Both have also attended the TRP Summer Camps and had a pile of fun. I would recommend the TRP Academy to any parent, not just to find something for their child to do but to give them some really great values that will benefit them in their life ahead.”

“Since walking through the doors of the Tae Ryong Park Academy for the first time in 2003 I continue to be impressed with the excellent instruction, professional training facilities and most importantly, the environment that complements what I’m trying to teach my children at home. I enrolled both of my children in Tae Kwon Do not only to have them learn how to defend themselves, but to reinforce the qualities of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. Activities that allow fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters to train together towards a common goal are far and few between, but whether it is the after school program, evening classes, or spring/summer camps, Master Park and his staff provide an opportunity for children and adults alike to travel down a path towards a better way of life.”

"My son started taking classes at TRP when he was just 6 years old. His time at TRP has taught him about respect and discipline and really helped with his confidence. I joined TRP a year or so later after a 'friends and family' class got me hooked. We have been going to classes and training together ever since and it has provided me with an opportunity to set a positive example of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and physical fitness regardless of your age. In sharing the experience of earning our black belts, we were both reminded about the value of hard work and what it will allow you to accomplish. There is a real sense of family at TRP. We’ve made long lasting friendships with fellow students and enjoy the camaraderie that the classes offer. The instructors know you by name and always make you feel welcome, and even though they work you hard in class, they also make it fun."

"Our family started coming to Tae Ryong Park Academy because my son wanted to spar and the club we were at did not offer it. I was displeased with the lack of structure at the previous club and so the only reason we did try this one was our son's desire to use the skills he had been learning. I can tell you my eyes shot open the day that my son went into the office and asked Master Park if he could still do his first belt test even though his mom forgot to get the form for him. Master Park pleasantly asked him if his mom was doing the test and he confusedly answered “No” Then Master Park asked, “ If it is your test, and you want to do the test, why would your mom get you a form?” I knew this club offered the whole package. From that day, we have never looked back. My daughter was the next to join and both kids asked me to join them so we could do the family class. It was awesome to see their faces light up when I showed them my uniform and they understood that I had joined. As a parent, I was humbled from the armchair critic position I held. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I couldn't actually do multiple tuck jumps nor for the pride and encouragement from my kid's as I dragged myself across the floor. As a family, the three of us have forged a very special bond thanks in part to the lessons TRP offers in each and every class. Not just for the sport of Tae Kwon Do, but for life in general. We have had opportunities to teach and practice being mentors, listeners, helpers, students and competitors and all with grace, dignity & “push-ups with a smile!” These actions are reinforced by the teachers who are consistently respectful, courteous and friendly. The lessons and talks are addressed to all the ages and levels participating so our children, and the adults have the opportunity to grow to become a better person. Each action has an explanation, and we are given ways to practice both sides in order to have a better understanding of why techniques are the way they are. The camaraderie between the students of all ages as well as the instructors and owners is very welcoming. It is a very healthy environment. Tae Ryong Park is so much more than the sport of Tae Kwon Do, it is a way of living life to the fullest."

"Our children started at TRP in 2001. After seeing both the fun they were having and the quality of the instruction offered, we joined a month or so after. Over the years, we enjoyed watching Sean and Brittani grow in confidence and skill, while learning how respect, hard work and perseverance can enrich all aspects of their lives. The atmosphere of friendship and family at TRP keeps us continuing our training year after year. We have enjoyed travelling with TRP and competing in tournaments across Canada and the United States. We have attained our Black Belts and still feel that there is more to learn and experience there. The instructors continually challenge you mentally and physically while keeping the workouts fun. We have all made lasting friendships with the students and instructors and cannot think of a better way to spend time together with family and friends."

“My son and I have been at the TRP Academy for several years. In that time I have seen him develop self-defence skills as well as physical fitness. It has been wonderful to watch his self-confidence grow. Martial arts has been a father – son activity that has enriched our relationship. At the TRP Academy my son has developed determination and the drive to succeed. We have both developed positive and lasting relationships and have been able to take this “don’t quit” attitude and apply it to work, schools and home.”
